The Raina J.H. Evans Foundation Scholarship

Raina was a very independent minded and determined person who made her own decisions early in life.  At age 25, she made the decision to return to school to study Environmental Sciences with a goal to complete a degree in Environmental Engineering. She recognized the need to protect the environment and all our natural resources even extending beyond the bounds of Earth, serving as a NASA Intern. She was an excellent and highly dedicated student earning a perfect 4.0 GPA.  She was always there to lend a hand to fellow students even in the most difficult courses.

She continued to study even after discovering she was suffering from a very rare and deadly cancer. Studying and learning were ever important and even in the hospital she pursued her coursework. Homework and reading assignments were done even with an IV in her arm. She never gave up, even until the very end of her life.

We have created this scholarship in her honor. Priority will be given to students with outstanding academic qualifications who are returning to school or academic life to complete their degree or start anew in the Sciences, Technical, Engineering or Math fields. However, we encourage all who are interested to apply for our scholarship.

It is our intention to give one or more deserving students up to a $1000.00 award each fall semester. The application can be downloaded from this page and be sent by email to RememberingRainaEvans@gmail.com with any additional supporting information or endorsements you wish to submit. Finalists will be required to submit an official transcript to the Raina J.H. Evans Foundation.

Our requirements and priorities are:

·         Currently enrolled full time with a min GPA 3.0. Higher priority will be given to outstanding students.

·         At least 18 credit-hours of academic progress minimum, with 6 hours in STEM courses

·         Priority for those who have decided to return to school to renew academics

·         Essay of 500 words maximum explaining why you are returning to school and what your future plans are.

·         Submit documents via email on or before May 31, 2025.
